Freshman T.J. Cowing was the third Retriever to cross the finish line

The Men’s Cross Country team had a down weekend at Princeton. While they did finished 12th out of 13, the reason is because no Retriever ran a season best time, though nobody regressed this week as the times were close to their previous meets.

Andrew Madison crossed 61st in 26:18.10, Michael Christmas finished 80th in 26:35.40, T.J. Cowing finished 106thth in 27:07.40, Roy Jones finished 116th in 27:17.30 and his brother rounded out the teams effort in 165th in 19:11.20.

The men’s team finished with 333 points with a total time of 2:16.29.40 and an average time of 27:17.88.

Out of 42 of the top teams in the nation UMBC finished in 41st place with 1,173 points and a total time of 2:10:24, which is not bad time wise as it beats their time of 2:14:10.19 at the Cappy Anderson Invitational two weeks ago.

Once again Andrew Madison was the first Retriever to cross the finish line. He did so in 25:09 to earn 130 points, lowering his time at UMES by nearly one full minute.

Following Madison was Chris Bowie in 25:52, Chris Snyder in 26:09, Michael Christmas in 26:16, and T.J. Cowing in 26:59.

On the face of a 41st place finish out of 42 it looks bad, but Cross Country is very individual and until the conference championship meet comes along no place matters, they are all for improvement, which each runner did.
