Women’s Basketball Get Second Straight Win With Victory Over Bucknell, 68-63

Michelle Kurowski played all 40 minutes of the game and scored a game high 29 points in a 68-63 win on the road over Bucknell. She also led the team with three steals and was tied for first on the team with seven rebounds. She shot 50.0% from the field going 9-18 including 1-4 from three point range. She also went 10-12 from the free throw line.

The other two members of the high scoring guard trio Carlee Cassidy and Katie Brooks also scored in double figures. Cassidy also played all 40 minutes and recorded 11 points as she landed three from beyond the arc.

Brooks was second on the team with 12 points. She shot 2-2 from three point range and passed off four assists. She continues to show great improvement from the beginning of the season as she only turned the ball over one time in the 25 minutes of action she saw.

It was a game that UMBc never trailed. They went into the half with a 13 point lead over the opposing Bison, but in the second half Bucknell came out strong and eventually tied the game with less than three minutes left.

However, UMBC outscored Bucknell 8-3 in the remaining time to get the and get a winning record.

What one the game for UMBC was points off turnovers. They focred 23 turnovers from the Bison and scored 23 points off them. They were out-rebounded and shot a lower percentage from the field, but got the win.

Meghan Colabella was held out of the game for undisclosed reasons and in her place Erin Brown scored six points with five rebounds. Topé Obajolu also scored six points with three rebounds.

Three Retrievers saw action off the bench. Chrissy Robinson led with 13 minutes of action and all four bench points. She also grabbed seven rebounds.

The other two players to come in off the bench were Michele Brokans and freshman Kim Browning.

The Retriever now have two straight home games as they play Navy and Delaware at the RAC.
