Softball Drops Conference Opener to Maine, 6-4

Kaela Mason was only at bat once in the game and with it she got rid of a three run deficit with a three run home run in the sixth inning to tie the game.

Maine got out to a quick 3-1 lead in the second inning and added a fourth two innings later to put UMBC down three with two innings to go (the game was only seven innings), before Mason hit her three run homer to tie the game. The problem was Maine scored two more right after to go up 8-6 for the eventual final score.

Stephanie Weigman got off to a bad start but did only allow seve hits with six strikeouts, but those seven hits lead to six run (four earned) and the loss.
