Women’s Basketball Comesback for 59-51 Win Over Navy
It was two unlikely heroes that came up big for UMBC to break a half time deficit and walk away with a win. Topé Obajolu recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Chelsea Barker was tied for a team high in points with 15 to go with five rebounds in the game.
Navy was leading the game for a majority of the time but could not put UMBC away, which in the end cost them as UMBC hung around and got a late lead, which they did not give up.
Carlee Cassidy also recorded 15 points while Michelle Kurowski scored nine with nine rebounds, Katie Brooks scored six, and Michele Brokans added the final two points.
Only two Retrievers had success from three point range, Cassidy who went 2-6, and Barker who went a perfect 3-3.
By coming back to get the 59-51 win UMBC improves their record to 4-2 and will prepare to play Delaware, who is home to one of the top players in the country, Elena Delle Donne.
